About UsCaring Hands Pregnancy Center has been a legal, incorporated, entity in the State of Colorado since November 2002. We are classified as a 501(c)(3), tax exempt, non-profit organization by the Internal Revenue Service. All donations to Caring Hands are deductible from income for tax purposes. Caring Hands was established from the organizational structure of the Colorado Pro-Life Alliance when that organization ceased to exist in the fall of 2002. The CLPA was a political organization which worked to further the safety of Colorado’s unborn by advocating for several Colorado Constitutional amendments which were put before the Colorado voters on referenda at the time of general elections. Due to the efforts of that organization, Colorado now has an active parental notification law that requires abortionists to notify the parents of a pending abortion before the procedure can be done on a woman under the age of 18 years. Caring Hands Pregnancy Center sees clients at the All Nations Ministries Church at 2707 W. Mississippi Avenue in west Denver. Open hours are shown on our monthly calendar. Caring Hands operates under the volunteer staffing of 37 pro-life people who come from seven churches in the southwest Denver area. The financial support for Caring Hands comes from donations of individual Christians and their families who hope to express the love of Christ to the poor and the unfortunate in our very needy, multi-ethnic, neighborhood. We also receive an annual grant from the Qwest Foundation. In west Denver, we see clientele with a mean age of 24 years. 64% of those clients are Hispanic, and 18% are Anglo. Our services include free pregnancy tests, counseling about family and health concerns, referral to community service agencies, donation of maternity clothing and baby layettes, and teaching about alternatives to abortion. We do not provide medical services; but we refer to local doctors and clinics for that kind of care. We also present seminars on fatherhood in conjunction with the National Fatherhood Initiative. We have a program to help English illiterate clients learn to speak English by learning to read the Bible. We serve our clients, also, by communicating to them the good news of Jesus. We often refer our clients to neighborhood churches. Our administrative address is 1700 South Irving Street, Denver, CO 80219-4609. All correspondence should be addressed to this location. | ||||||||
